THE RUM DIARY

I do not say that this film is spot-on amazing. It does have its moments and yet somehow it is somewhat fleeting.

The Rum Diary, a great novel by the late Hunter S. Thompson, encompasses a tangled love story of jealousy, treachery and violent alcoholic lust among the Americans who staff the newspaper.

The film didn't really stick to the reputation of the novel; hilarious, entertaining, and memorable. Honestly, the only thing I can remember from the film is when Amber Heard majestically emerged from the cold water and just...pause it there.

However, despite of all the rum, booze, drugs, cigarettes, sex and salsa, I give this film 3.5 stars - for the examples and lessons on what drugs you should avoid, choosing the right powerful man to be friends with (make sure he lets you drive his awesome whip), and that you make sure that your toupée is properly glued to your head.

"I wonder what it is you might think about our different worlds."

"He looked at me kinda sideways and said..."

"Human beings are the only creatures on Earth that claim a God. And the only living thing that behaves like it hasn't got one."
